Project Overview
The Illawarra Business Awards is an esteemed annual gala held by Business Illawarra that celebrates the accomplishments of organisations across the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region. In my fourth year leading the creative direction of the program, I was tasked with developing a visual theme that would reflect the maturity and resilience of local businesses in the post-pandemic era.
I stepped up to the challenge of producing thousands of digital and print assets in a few months, to promote and stylise both the Finalist Announcement event and the Gala Ceremony. The following are some of the initial conceptual iterations I created that preceded the selection of the "Glitz & Glamour" theme and the establishment of the definitive design direction.
The Final Design
The refined design direction captured the essence of success while remaining faithful to the black-tie theme of the Gala Ceremony. It incorporated gold accents to symbolise achievement, and subtly referenced the Illawarra skyline. The design was further enhanced by nods to Art Deco, which infused a sense of sophistication and elegance.
A Glamorous Experience From Beginning to End
I led a team which developed a strategy in collaboration with the Business Illawarra events team. We prioritised delivering an unforgettable experience for finalists and winners, in conjunction with targeted promotional efforts to enhance event visibility and boost ticket sales.
